Maria Papanikolaou is an Athens-based visual artist (sculptor) and a Doctoral Candidate at the Athens School of Fine Arts.

She graduated with a Law degree from the University of Athens (2004) and later acquired a degree in Fine Arts from the Royal Academy of Arts, The Netherlands and a Masters in Fine Arts from the Athens School of Fine Arts in 2011.

Since 2012 Maria is working towards her PhD at the Athens School of Fine Arts and is currently conducting research as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the New York University (2016-2017).

She has exhibited in Greece and abroad, including solo exhibitions, e.g. KunstVLAAI (Amsterdam, 2008); Filmhuis Den Haag (The Hague, 2008), National Museum of Contemporary Art (Athens, 2014), Onassis Cultural Centre (Athens, 2015), Museum Applied Arts (Frankfurt, 2015).
