Started "serious" photography with a Olympus Pen FT in the late 60's. Eventually moved on to the Olympus full frame system and shot thousands of Kodachrome slides. In the early 2000's digital came out, which was perfect for work, at least that's how I justified an $800US Sony 3.3 megapixel camera. The OM system has languished ever since. The Sony eventually died and was replaced with a series of other P&S's. In late 2011 I splurged on a Nikon D7000 and started collecting lenses, tripods, etc. This is great near home or travel by car, but is too much when travelling light. Recently purchased a Sony RX100 which is usually in my pocket. This thing takes great pictures. It's complicated, awkward to change some settings, but takes great pictures. Both jpgs and raw files are about equal to the Nikon at comparable focal lengths as long as the subject is not moving too much. Great travel camera.

Rant follows:

Comments and suggestions are welcome and very much appreciated, but please keep flashy "awards" and advertisements for your group to a minimum. They look like billboards on the freeway and distract from the original poster's image. I especially resent those that require me to award other flashy awards. Is this a race to build the biggest group? If so, what's the point? Sounds like junior high school all over again! A simple request to join a new group would seem to be sufficient and appropriate.
