I'm a retired technical college teacher (carpentry & building) living in Perth, Australia who likes to cook and take photos.

Joined Flickr in 2014 and am loving the chance to share my shots and enjoy the work of my brothers and sisters of the shutter.

Though my main interests are landscapes, architecture and macro, I try to diversify my uploads so that there's variety in my images, not just landscapes or just architecture.

I've recently stopped giving 'faves' except where I like a photo enough to write a comment. It's so easy to click the fave button but if someone takes the trouble to write even a brief comment I very much appreciate it.

Flickr has never been a numbers game for me. In fact Flickrites who boast of their 'faves' and 'views' by posting their statistics are missing the point, I think.

One of my pet hates is when people post a photo and then add it to groups that have no relevance whatever to the photo. I belong to a few groups and it annoys the hell out of me to see a photo in a group dedicated to (say) lighthouses when the subject is a cat on a sofa! One such photo the other day prompted me to look further down the page only to see that the photo was in 692 groups!! What a very sad and insecure life that person must lead.

Speaking as one whose first photographic endeavors were in the 1950s with the family's box Brownie, I think we're so lucky to live at a time when we can take super-quality images, post process them in limitless ways then share them with people from around the world.

Aren't we living in a golden age?!
