Hello Class,

Here is a short bio about myself! I am originally from Vermont, but moved to Arizona over ten years ago to be with the sun and the lovely warm weather. I pride myself in being involved, whether that’s serving our Country, (U.S. Marine Corps Veteran) our community, (AmeriCorps Service Member) or learning new cultures and expanding my thoughts and ideas. (Peace Corps Volunteer) I am currently employed with a great nonprofit organization named Rebuilding Together Valley of the Sun, which helps low income families, the elderly, disabled, and veterans.

I recently within the last week purchased a new FujiFilm FinePix AX655 camera, with 16 mega pixels and 5x optical zoom. I have always had a passion for taking pictures, but it was never a serious hobby, one mostly while traveling oversees or hiking the many trails throughout Arizona. I cannot really remember when I got my first real camera, this might be it because the majority of the time I just used a disposal one! Even though I have taken many, many pictures in my life, I do not consider having any expertise in this subject, or any real experience besides taking pictures for fun, which a lot of the time involved alcohol, so the pictures are usually pretty funny.

With that said, I looking forward to the next 6 weeks of this Environmental Photography class and the knowledge that I hopefully will gain to improve my photography passion, especially for all the pictures I take camping and hiking, which half the time turn out bad. My overall goal is to attain meaningful employment as a Biological Science Technician or something else with the United States Forest Service and I believe Green Mountain College will help me in this pursuit, and the reasoning behind why I am in this class.
