None of the photos I put up are retouched in any way.
What you see is what the camera captured and how they were saved on the computer.
Naturally, I crop in on the subject to eliminate unneeded substrate, and I shoot jpeg medium fine settings.
I might add, I shoot apperature in dull lighting and shutter in good lighting for the most part.
Shooting manual raw and adjusting for this and that would have cost me the Blackburnian and Chestnut sided Warbler captures.
They had no intentions of hangin' out with me while I got all my settings just right.
Matter of fact, for the most part the camera is smarter than me when it comes to white balance.. ISO.. app and shutter.. so I can pretty much concentrate on focus / squeeze down to fire the contraption.
The contraption by the way was comprised of a Nikon D90 with a recently acquired Sigma 150 x 500. (June 2013)
Some of the shots here were taken with my 55 x 300 Nikor
IE...... the action shots of the jays and chikadees for example.
Would I recommend the Sigma...... you bet to anyone on a low budget.
Should add here that I have stepped up to a D7000 and well pleased with the performance of this camera. Should also add here (dec 2016) picked up a Nikor 200/500mm lense.
Wow... definetly the right move to make if you want good results. Nikon did their homework on this lense and it performs as advertised !
Works for me !
