I am a retired resident of Skidaway Island (a coastal Georgia island near Savannah, GA) comprised of 6,300 acres surrounded by tidal marshes and the Intracoastal Waterway. The intricately gnarled Live Oaks cloaked in Spanish Moss and Resurrection Fern and surrounded by Saw Palmetto make Skidaway Island an ideal maritime forest environment.

I have combined my hobbies of birding and photography with an emphasis on the birds of Skidaway Island. Annually we have approximately one hundred and eighty species that are seasonal or have the Island as a permanent residence.

The challenges of birding and photography have provided many enjoyable hours. Locating a species and attempting to get pleasing photographs is a fun pursuit. Sometimes you surprise yourself with satisfying results, but most times you feel that the next shot will be the perfect shot. And so I look forward with anticipation to the changing seasons and what they might bring and try to get out doors with my camera every chance that presents itself.
