The RAINBOW HISTORY PROJECT (RHP) is dedicated to the preservation and study of LGBTQ history in the Washington DC area. The term "LGBTQ history" refers to the activities of persons and organizations in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans community. The term also refers to legal developments and other events which have affected that community.
RHP, also known as the Rainbow History Project Foundation, is incorporated in the District of Columbia as a non-profit charitable and educational organization.
The RAINBOW HISTORY PROJECT is guided by activists, community members, historians, librarians and pioneers who provide a crucial resource for the history of our community and for maintaining the professional integrity of RHP activities.
RHP DIVERSITY POLICY: The mission of the Rainbow History Project is to collect, preserve, and promote an active knowledge of the history, arts, and culture of metropolitan Washington DC’s diverse LGBTQ communities. That can be accomplished only if our collection, volunteer corps, and programming reflect and represent the full diversity of those communities and their allies. It is therefore our fundamental policy to seek out the active participation and involvement of individuals of all backgrounds -- particularly those from under-represented groups -- who agree with and are committed to carrying out the goals of our organization.
The RAINBOW HISTORY PROJECT is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a section 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions to RHP are tax deductible. To make a contribution, please see page 1 of RHP's official website: rainbowhistory.org.
