Hi, My Name is Paul Bird, the name budgie comes from as a little lad I used to ride a bike called a Budgie bike, smaller than the then famous Chopper, and as I still am now a quiet person the locals just use to say here comes budgie, and you guessed it, it stuck and nothing to do with my last name of Bird.

With a massive passion for carp fishing over the years and catching from some of our countries hardest and largest waters, illness put a stop to spending hours on a lake bank.

The Canon 450d was my camera of choice for these fishing photos, so I put this to use, walking the dog and snapping as I went along.

The photography bug then really took hold, firstly just on landscapes sun rises and sets, then thanks to a few friends onto wildlife to widen my horizon, my Camera gear is slowly growing and to date, I've managed 3 National Trust Flickr awards for their web site. My images have also appeared in local magazines and brochures.

I have undertaken several 1 to 1 tutorial workshops now with a professional wildlife photographer Colin Edwards, with understanding composition, light and using the light to suit a certain image, So whether its high key. Low key or silhouettes understand what is required can make selecting settings very quick and easy.

My camera equipment is Canon EOS R6 main lens Canon prime 500 mm F4 ii lens, i support all this with the Sirui PH10 head on a Gitzo series 4 tripod, Fstop Rucksack Ajna 37L or Tilopa 50L depending on the requirement. protection to the camera is Outdoor Photography Gear lens covers, my tripod and head are covered by custom Wildlife watching Supplied covers. other lens at 16-35 F4 L, 70-200mm F4 RF, 24-105 F4 RF. 100-400mm F5.6 L, Prime 400mm F5.6 L.
