When I retired on 04/04/04 I sold the house, gave away our stuff, bought a huge RV and hit the road. My wife and I spent ten wonderful years as full-time tourists seeing the USA.
We were in perpetual motion, moving to a new location about once a week. At each new place we did daytrips to see the sights and learn about our new "home." We never sat around the RV Park. We estimate that we lived in about 40 places, usually towns, each year. After ten years we figured we had lived in 400 places around the country. We can confirm that the U.S. is a friendly, wonderful country populated by friendly, wonderful people.
I wrote a monthly email newsletter for family and friends detailing what we were seeing and doing each month as a way of keeping in touch with everyone. I have since been talked into converting those 110 emails into an eBook. Which I have recently completed.
I called the eBook "Small House, Big Yard". The pictures being posted here on Flickr are the pictures associated with those emails, and hence, the eBook.
We loved every minute of our journey and never tired of the lifestyle, but eventually just ran out of new places to go. So we sold the RV and settled into a condo in a downtown high-rise in Music City. Some people like to call it Nashville.
