Fine art includes photo collage and various studies of the nude. He is best known for San Diego Urban Nude, a collaborative effort between the subject and the artist. Pennell works with abstract expressionism in photography in a series of large digital photo collage, hand held over time, on paper and canvas. He is also interested in wide angle astro landscapes, nature and seascapes.

Most recently he is pursuing a study in movement in dance. He works with several San Francisco dance companies and choreographers to develop this series, Study In Movement. The series captures the essence of choreography in one file/image. One of these dances, entitled The Conference of the Birds, from a poem of the same name, will be featured in his up coming exhibition.

Ryan Pennell bring his work of nature and dance to the San Diego Audubon Society. For a one person show.
