Brandon A. Dalmer
Drag to set position!
Dalmer creates conceptually abstract sequential narratives utilizing drawing, optics, projection, miniatures, and archaic special effects techniques. His work involves the construction of false memories of events that never happened; exploring themes of nostalgia, time, escapism science, and illusion. Often intentionally vague, he uses multiple pieces and images involving the same nonlinear story in order to allow the viewer to craft his or her own ideas about what is happening within a narrative- rather than directly telling them. Dalmer holds a BFA from the Alberta College of Art and Design, and has exhibited in a number of spaces such as Xpace, Stride Gallery, Haight Gallery, Untitled Art Society, Truck, Latitude 53, and the Art Gallery of Calgary. He has also been heavily involved in artist-run organizations such as the New Gallery, The White House, The Calgary Biennial M:ST, The Roundtable Residency, and Wreck City; as well as being one of the founders of the 809 Gallery in Calgary.
Currently he resides in Toronto where he lives and works.
