"I don't ride to be seen, I ride because I want to disappear.

It's about freedom. The freedom to explore, the freedom to get lost, the freedom to be somewhere silent." - Half Throttle, somewhere on the net.

Oldie getting back into cycling and taking photos to help fight depression.

Based in mid Cornwall, I no longer have motorised transport so my riding range is a bit limited most of the time, likewise my photo locations, as I tend to ride the same routes.

I also have a bad back among other things, which limits how long I can stand or walk for, but I've found that being propped up by the bars means I can ride a bike for a lot longer and only get minor pain compared to walking or standing.

My photos are a bit crap but I enjoy taking them, definitely a case of enthusiasm out weighing skill. Wonky horizons, blown highlights etc, you'll find them all here.

A lot of my photos are selfies of a sort, usually ride pasts, even though I hate having my photo taken, and it also seems a bit self absorbed. But bikes are all about travel and movement, so I can only bear taking so many static shots of a bike leaning against a gate or fence post somewhere, hence I've persuaded myself to get in the picture.

Being able to get out on a bike has really given me a lift and helps a lot in keeping things together, allowing me to get out of the house and away into the countryside, and to peace and quiet, which is what I crave.

Lastly, if I add one or more of your photos to my favourites, or start following you, don't feel you need to reciprocate, I'm just about enjoying the photographs and won't take offence or anything daft like that! :-)

I also have a blog about cycling, depression and other guff at backroadbimbles.blogspot.co.uk/
