"Everybody tells a story about themselves inside their own heads. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story. "
Stories have beginnings and all stories have words. Words may be pale shadows that reflect who we really are but words have power. They begin and end the story that we tell ourselves.
My story begins with a word and that word is bookworm. In that word, I have defined myself continuously, evolving and acquiring new words, and as each word is connected to the first word so does the definition of who I am.
I live in the world of dreams, such are those who read books voraciously, we are highly imaginative that sometimes even reality is more like a dream and the dream, reality.
As time pass by, new words come to mind, jealousy, stubbornness, possessiveness, loyalty, romantic, and the family of friends.
Like all Arians, I am very stubborn, obstinateness bred to the bone. When I believe in something, I stick to it tooth-and-nail til I am proven/convinced otherwise which is quite difficult to do but not impossible. I believe in true love yet cynical to its nature at the same time.
I believe in the principles of trust, commitment and faith when it comes to all relationships, whether its with loved ones and friends. I have my share of betrayals, both committed by me or someone close to me, am not perfect nor do I want to be one.
To err is human, as they say, however that is not an excuse for being consciously stupid. We all make choices and our choices have consequences and whether we like it or not, take responsibility for our actions. Responsibility is such a big word. Yes, its a burden, but that is a sign of growing up isn't it? We cant be children forever.
I am friendly, that is a fact, and most of the time, I like making friends but despite that, I have few friends, not because of anybody's fault however I have principles I uphold as much as I can. TRUST is very important to me. Without trust, what's the point in friendship? Friendship is not a simple thing as getting to know a person, it is a covenant formed out of a common interest, chemistry and human principles of TRUST among other things.
My friends may disagree otherwise, however with this same principles in mind, I can be who I am to my friends without fear of being ostracized. My friends know the value of my word and the value of what it means to be my friend. I am fiercely loyal, compassionate, bloody opinionated and totally protective.
Friends are family to me, the family that we chose to be with. Friends who in some way are brothers or sisters to me.
I'm no gym bunny, the most polite term that would describe me physically would be chubby. I have no hang-ups about it, am just saying am not perfect.
Enough about me. My story continues. New words may come up to define me. Perhaps one of those words would be YOU. But enough about that. What about you? What's your story? And what's the one word that defines you?
