I'm a writer, editor, tinkerer, and contrarian, now retired from punching a clock but not retired from anything that I enjoy doing. I grew up in Chicago and have lived in five states since then, and am currently in Colorado, where I live with my wife Carol and four bichon frises.
I work with electronics of all sorts, from steampunk up through VLSI. I also build telescopes, kites, and odd gadgets that are difficult to characterize. In addition to technology I study history, psychology, theology, anthropology, science of all stripes, and to keep people off-balance I study weirdness and anomalies of various species. I don't seriously expect to meet aliens or Bigfoot, but if I ever do I'll say, "Hi, guys! How about a selfie?"
My amateur radio callsign is K7JPD. I have previously held WN9MQY, WB9MQY, KB2JN, KI6RA, and KG7JF.
I write SF. I have been nominated twice for the Hugo Award, though I did not win in either case. My SF and technical books are available via Amazon and used book services.
