It was not until 2013 that I became seriously interested in photography as a hobby. Before that I'd been making family and holiday videos since about 1998. Then between 2011 & 2014 I made some promotional videos for local businesses.

As there are a number of technical and artistic similarities between taking videos and stills (many differences too!) it was not too difficult for me to adapt to taking photos.

I like to know my camera's features in great detail and almost always use it in manual mode so I have complete control. I even prefer to use manual focus just to make sure that it's pin sharp on the subject.
