My name is Ella Wright, but you may know me as ella.wrighty, my Flickr username. I've been taking a Photography Class at school for the past quarter now, and I've really started enjoying it. At first, I was having a lot of trouble coming up with creative ideas, as you can see from my early photos. But I eventually embraced all of the ideas around me and started getting some better pictures. There's just something that I find poetic about capturing a moment on film.

My favorite things to see in photos are good lighting and interesting subject matter, my favorite design elements. I feel that the lighting really changes how someone sees the picture, and how the subject matter is shown. A photo with red lighting will make me feel different than if the photo had bright white lighting, and I feel that photography has a lot to do with feelings.

I love taking pictures of people, landscapes, and miniatures with a Nikon 30100 DSLR. I believe that people are the best subject matter, because they can easily convey emotion and expression. Landscapes are great because they give a sense of place and location, while also conveying emotion. I can't explain my love for miniatures, however. I love taking pictures up close to small things, either making them look huge, or just making them shrink more. It just makes photos more interesting.

I love photos that are interesting and simple yet dramatic. I believe that less is more, and I think that an over-crowded photo never looks good. Portraits and concept shots really interest me, along with silhouettes and shadows. Contrast, for me, is key. A flat photo never looks that good to me. I absolutely hate grainy, low-quality pictures that aren't edited well.

In the future, I would like to enter a few of my pictures in contests. I would also like to learn a lot more about composition of photos while I saving for a better camera.
