Karol is a challenging photographer to write about. He is one of that rare breed of photographers who have enough raw talent for any ten photographers, a vast wealth of photographic and other knowledge, decades of real-world experience, and a heartfelt compassion for his human and animal subjects, all of which is immediately evident in his work. He is here because he loves photography, yes, but he is also here to share his wealth of knowledge. You can see this in his carefully considered, well-written, and concise critiques that always go above and beyond. He never puts your work down but gently, subtly, and with humility hints at real ways to improve. This is not to say that his comments are all critical. To the contrary, he more often celebrates good work as if it were his own. The only criticism I have of Karol is that he lives far away across the Atlantic from me, but it is not hard to imagine sharing a bottle of good wine with him and comparing notes on life, the universe, and everything late into the night. Maybe someday!

I've seen you at work in your home-made lab (back in the 80's) and I can say that your sense of perfection is quiet unnerving..! whether you're using a Leica, Hasselblad or a Sinar makes it look like a childish game toying with such complicated devices.. you cannot accept the least error and you put all your efforts in order to achieve a perfect result that you can barely accept.. always seeking for the best !... your versatility makes you someone very special and your sense of detail brings you close to where others can never be ! and I know what I am talking about. your love to the old school, masters like Henri Cartier-Bresson, Man Ray, Philippe Halsman , Ansel Adams etc talks a lot about your talent, making you an astonishing phenomenon..! people who never met you will never know you is what I am trying to say... a dedicated stubborn humble man, photographer and a life lover who will never accept nothing but perfection. thank you for what you is, sincerely, dear old friend. thank you Flickr for bringing us closer.
