I've been dabbling in photography for over seventy-five years. Since I received a Sony DSC F707 in 2002 as a present from my family, I have switched exclusively to digital, although I am scanning in some of my old slides. In April, 2008, my 707 gave up the ghost and was replaced by a Sony F828. As of December 1, 2010, I also have a Pentax K-x with three lenses to work with. In January, 2012 I acquired a Canon SX130 as well. Next came a Panasonic Lumix FZ200, bought in February, 2014; it gives me a longer lens to work with (600mm) plus an articulating screen. Then a Pentax K-50. Nature is my favorite subject. I don't travel much any more, so most of my photos were taken in the yard or in sites fairly close to my southeastern Arizona home, where I lived for 20 years. I am now living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. II try to appreciate the world that surrounds me. Photography makes me focus on things and helps me to slow down and take in the extraordinary beauty that is always there but so easy to walk past. Flickr allows me to share what I find with others. I'd like everyone to know about the many wonders and beauties of the Sonoran Desert and the states of Arizona and New Mexico and to realize that deserts are far from wastelands and should be treasured as part of our national heritage.
Thanks to each and every one who visits my site and especially to those who leave a comment. And thanks also to all the amazing photographers in the Flickr community who share the beauty of their world and the magic of their skill with all of us.
LATEST: In June, 2021, we moved from Arizona to New Mexico. Finally settled in Albuquerque. As of 2025, I'm 93 years old and grateful I'm still able to press a shutter button.

Great photography. I lived and worked in the American deserts for much of my life. No back in my home state of Pennsylvania I miss the desert. Your photos bring back great memories.

I just love seeing Jim post something new. You never know what it's going to be. I think he really loves the outdoors and photography and has combined those interests here to good effect. He will present you with an extensive collection of American south west wildlife. He lives in a tough and demanding environment and the subjects reflect that. He often seems to have an eye for the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape that others miss and catalogs that here for your enjoyment. Take a look at his work and you will find him to be a skilled photographer. It's well worth a little time to stop and visit Jim's collection of images.
