Ocean Rangers is a Cyprus registered non-profit organization with a clear mission: to help Cyprus, its people and visitors enjoy and benefit from the island’s most abundant natural resource: the sea that surrounds us – and all that is in it!

We recognize what other destinations around the world have successfully tried and tested: that the best way to retain, sustain and increase the value of the sea is by protecting it. By keeping the beach and the waters clean, by preventing overfishing and illegal fishing, we can actually improve both the quantity and quality of controlled fishing in designated areas. Our ultimate goal is to reconcile the needs of the local population with the environmental guidelines that will ensure not only its survival but also its further healthy development. To that end, and with the support of marine biologists, legal advisors, corporate sponsors and the population at large, we seek to implement the existing regulations for environmental protection.

We are guided by the maxim: ‘Prevention is better than cure’. By raising awareness and educating the public, we aim to minimize the health and environmental threats of littering, pollution, and overfishing. This in turn will facilitate the full rehabilitation of our waters, for the ultimate benefit of both our people and our environment.

We recognize that people, not politicians are the agents of change. By highlighting the long-term benefits of protection, as opposed to the short-lived gains of destruction, we aim for the support and engagement of students and scientists, swimmers and divers, corporations and associations. Together we can achieve the strong voice we need to earn the recognition and funding of European and international institutions that share our vision and mission.
