I am a documentary photographer; my works are come out with the feelings which I received from the painful history of my people. I belong from a family who was driven out of Afghanistan during civil war, when 65% population of our people was killed by the ruling king Abdurrahman Khan.

I visited my country after Sep 11, 2001 for the first time when the Taliban regime was still in Kandahar. After visiting the devastation and destruction of 23 years of civil war in the country, I decided to tell the stories of the people through my camera lens which are still untold, unheard and unseen. I chose photography as a medium of my expression which is the tool for me to communicate with the people. Through my photographs I want to draw the world’s attention towards the plight of the people.

My series in Afghanistan doesn’t demonstrate only for the destruction and war but says about love and the scenic beauty of the country too. I always try to shoot when the people don’t concentrate me and my camera in order to get a natural expressions and feelings which make a photograph talking. If people are conscious about my camera so I just hold on and wait for the right time until they forget my camera.
