I take "snaps". Trying to capture what I happen across (although my wife says that I take too long over doing it when she is with me). I very rarely use a tripod or arrange the subjects that I am taking, but I do try to take care over composing the shots - with varying degrees of success!

 

Always used Canon SLR film cameras until early in 2005. After a lot of research, I chose the Panasonic DMC-FZ5 as a good compromise between facilities and weight. Particularly wanted as much zoom as possible for photographing dinghy sailing - the boats are always such a long way off!

 

If Canon had brought out the S2-IS a few months earlier, they might have kept my loyalty! As it was, I was not disappointed with my choice of the FZ5 and was amazed at the new possibilities now that I have "gone digital".

 

In 2012, I upgraded and updated to a Panasonic DMC-FZ150. After another 7 years the FZ150 was having problems - mostly arising from dropping it in a puddle a few years before - so in 2019 I purchased a Panasonic DMC-FZ1000, which was not the latest model but I particularly wanted the larger detector for its better performance in light situations like church and cathedral interiors.

 

I retired at the end of February 2009, so more time for holidays - especially in our new VW campervan which was replaced by a MURVI Pimento campervan in 2014. In 2017 we moved from Rotherham in South Yorkshire to Ashbourne in Derbyshire,
