National Youth Film Academy
Drag to set position!
The National Youth Film Academy is an organisation dedicated to discovering, nurturing and promoting young talent within British Film.
Mission
To appeal to all Young People wishing to enter the world of acting and film, creating an accessible platform for Young People to enter the British Film Industry regardless of their location, previous experience or social background.
The objective of the organisation is to become the trusted standard and leading brand for UK Film Makers & Actors discovery and development.
Company Overview
Supported by the Directors Guild of Great Britain, The NYFA (National Youth Film Academy) is a non for profit organisation created to locate, educate, develop and showcase the talents of exceptionally gifted Young Actors and Film Makers aged 16-25 years old from around the UK.
We provide all Young Film Makers and Actors with the opportunity to train with respected industry professionals and meet with like-minded individuals to write, film, produce and showcase their own short film.
Description
The NYFA is a unique programme designed to discover the UK’s most talented Young Actors and Film Makers. Participants come together for 10 days over the course of 2 weeks to train in their chosen field allowing them to develop and produce their own short film.
Interview days will be held at regular intervals over 2 months across the major regions of the UK, 8 in total. After the interview, successful applicants will be invited to attend a 2 week Easter course held by a production company local to them.
Local production companies responsible for delivering the NYFA Easter course will be required to compile a report on each participant so that we can assess their talent, enthusiasm and professionalism.
Participants with outstanding reports will qualify to partake in a 3 week Summer course in August, which will be held in London. Whilst the structure of the Summer course will be similar to the Easter course, including the production of a short film, the content is far more detailed and focused (as befits participants at this level) and takes participants to a far more professional-level of competence.
Unlike the Easter courses, the highlight of the Summer course is a showcase and networking event which is screened and held at the BFI Southbank once all the courses have been completed (season end). The objective of this event is to allow the participants a unique opportunity to network with and showcase their talents to recognised industry professionals.
