I'm Daniel "Dan" Collins, an Australian photographer, based in Perth, Western Australia.

Throughout my years as a photographer I have dabbled in wedding and formal portrait photography but my passion lies in landscape, nature, surf and street photography. I grew a passion for photography when I was 15 years old on a trip to the north west of Australia where I borrowed my Dad's old Pentax film camera to shoot the amazing scenes that are prominent throughout the top end. I feel thankful that I grew up when the film era was still in full force, as aspect of it that I especially enjoyed was the excitement and suspense when viewing my developed slide film after collecting it from the lab. It was a surprise, you never knew exactly what you were going to get.

When I was studying photography one of my lecturers, who would retire soon after, told the class if you pursue photography as a career make it a point to regularly remind yourself why you fell in love with photography and continue to take casual joyful snaps of friends and family. I thought this was a simple but important piece of wisdom that I've never forgotten.

For me photography can be summed up as a means to capture and represent stories and scenes using visual snippets of those meaningful moments in life..."sigh"...not to mention there are heaps of fun times to be had with it too.
