I’m really interested in the human race, and how everyone is connected but separate. That’s why I like to take photos that show everyday life, especially candid, documentary or portrait styles. Some of my objectives are to show the everyday lives of people around me to prove that even simple activities can shape who they are. I also like showing how humans affect different places so taking pictures of urban landscapes are really interesting to me. I live in Madras, Oregon which has some stigma towards it, so I like the idea of trying to change the worlds perceptions on how everything fits together.
I try to be adventurous while trying out new hobbies or activities so I would like to at least try every technique within photography to find whatever I like best. I like taking Panorama photos to capture the vastness of our everyday activities and homes. My favorite techniques would be editing to create a feel of difference in a regular almost boring daily life photo. I would like to take ordinary looking photos and change something about them whether the color, focal point, or another technique and try to make people think about what life on this strange planet entails. I am interested in almost everything I come across so photography is a way to share that with people.
A famous photographer that inspires me is Norman Parkinson because he showed the link between women’s personality and clothes through his photos. I also really like Frida Kahlo because she painted the truth and really created from herself and her own world. Another influence would be just the world in general because there are so many great places, people, and things that can be captured. Someone who also inspires me is my Aunt who is a semi-professional photographer. She is able to pull out the realness and natural brilliance of her subject. I am very grateful for my Aunt because her passion is one of the reasons I decided to try out photography for myself.
