Geiko-san, Maiko-san and Ozashiki Asobi at the Ochaya of Gion Koubu in Kyoto are the one field of arumukos' several interests.

Geiko-san and Maiko-san are excellent dancers and excellent musicians. They dance specially the Inoue school of kyoumai, play not only samisen but also yokobue(Japanese flute) and sing nagauta, kouta, etc. They are also artists for Japanese painting, tea ceremony, flower arrangement and calligraphy.

The Ochaya is interpreted literally as "Teahouse" in English. But in the house various entertainment can be enjoyed through Geiko-san and Maiko-san. Inside the Ochaya a private and closed world can be found. Drinking, talking, many games as well as traditional Japanese music, singing and dancing and so on, are able to be enjoyed. It's called "Ozashiki Asobi".

For more than thirteen years, Arumukos has managed to offer the world a glimpse into the world behind the closed doors of Kyoto's ochaya. His photos and the information he shares with everyone are indispensable for those interested in geisha and maiko. Even if we can only enjoy it from behind our screens, he manages to share the fun of a true ozashiki with people on the other side of the globe. For all that, I personally am forever grateful.
