365 Days of Mud

Two of my New Year resolutions for myself were to be braver in regards to my art, and to challenge myself to create something in my studio every day for the year 2014. Hence my 365 days of mud challenge. In the past I've been erratic when it comes to my art and not very motivated. By forcing myself to do this challenge and to be very public and open with it on Facebook, Tumblr, and Instagram, I feel that I'm held accountable to whomever follows me on my journey. Hopefully by the end of this, I will be a better and more confident artist who can live the dream full time. ;)

GOALS FOR THE YEAR

(I decided I needed to set goals for myself early on as to not lose

focus as to what I'm doing. Plus when I look back on this I can either say

"What the hell I was thinking," or "I stayed true!"

.......................................................................................................

1. First and foremost, to grow as an artist.

2. Develop my style.

3. Have a vast and beautiful collection of pieces for my portfolio.

SO HOW IS THIS SUPPOSE TO WORK?

.......................................................................................................

I don't really know. :) This is the first time I'm doing this, but here is what I decided so far.

I decided to name this challenge 365 days of mud so as to not lock myself into doing one thing for 365 days. I also wanted this challenge to be as versatile as its namesake, mud, but not so versatile where each day I'm all over the place doing random things. So I decided to do series of 7, which will give me a set period of time to develop a style for a vessel or sculpture, but not lock me into one thing for to long that I would get bored.

...................................................................................................................

HOW WILL WE KNOW YOU ARE STAYING TRUE TO YOUR WORD?

...................................................................................................................

Y'all will just have to trust me!

Actually each day I will post a pic of the artwork that I created the day before or the day of as a journal entry for this challenge. Images will constantly be updated from unfinished pieces to glazed final pieces. But each day without fail I will show proof of what I've done in the studio that day. The good, the bad, and the ugly. ;)

Thanks to all of you who decide to follow me on this journey!
