Sharif Issa Zawaideh is an experienced photographer and filmmaker, having produced, filmed, and edited documentaries, concerts, and corporate films. Sharif received a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs with a concentration in International Development Studies from The George Washington University. He took his passion for the art, culture, and people of the developing world and set out to document the intricacies of their lives and their nations.
Through traveling, filming, and photographing in over 20 countries on five continents, Sharif has captured the essence of the developing world, and through his work continues to share with us his stories and theirs.
In 2004 Sharif produced and directed Circling Earth, a documentary about art and development shot in Thailand near the Lao and Cambodian borders. After touring the film festival circuit, Circling Earth was picked up for distribution by The National Film Network. He is currently working on Harboring Terrorism, a documentary about modern day piracy and the threat of maritime terrorism. His current photography projects include: “Ancient Egypt,” “Australia: Land of Diversity,” and most recently “Papua: Untouched.”
All of Sharif’s images go straight from slide to print without color-correction or digital manipulation. The images on this site are low resolution scans of the slides.
