I would just like to comment on the diversity, quality and quantity of this beautiful collection. The time spent searching for these items might have been exhausting had it not been for the satisfaction achieved with each new find. may well have been on a similar level as that of a dedicated collector. Years back, I was into collecting those 6 inch rulers used as an advertising medium for various businesses or products. I remember how satisfying it was to find the occasional item at flea markets and garage sales. Those offered for sale in "antique shops" were usually over-priced or sold in bunches of 10, 12 or even more. I didn't get the same satisfaction in these types of discoveries as I did in finding the single piece, laying in the corner of a bunch of other stuff. It was the individual find, the single 6 inch ruler with calendars that were dated decades old or had the phone numbers that contained only 2 or 3 digits. I can imagine the satisfaction, the rewards of finding these door knockers. Each piece had to have been limited to ONE. The determination, the focus of the ongoing search with the pay-off worth more than mere currency or dollars or ANY financial equivalent. It was done for the art and pleasure of each new discovery. As the collection grew, so did it's own inherent and intrinsic value. I found this collection to be of the utmost interest, almost being able to share in HER? pleasure vicariously. HER?
