NOSTALGIC VIEWS OF THE NORTH (E mail: photomemoriesarchive@outlook.com) -- A collection of over 150,000+ photographs and images including the WARD PHILIPSON COLLECTION, from glass plates, lantern slides and negatives, many of which have never been viewed for over a century. Nearly 20,000 of these images are featured here which display aspects of North East life including historic buildings and places, the history of people and communities and events, landscapes and gardens of the past, industry, maritime, coalmining and transport history. Some of the images date back over 300 years, thanks to the skilful work of world famous engravers and etchers, together with photographic images through to the year 2000. Our volunteer group - PHOTO MEMORIES ORGANISATION - has now digitised, restored and researched a large selection of the collection for your enjoyment and hopefully to be used and shared by groups, organisations and companies. Many of the images feature in our three books - NOSTALGIC VIEWS OF THE NORTH - which are available, although some are now collectors editions.
