II am Mitchell Smith Aka Itchier Itch. I am a 19 year old student studying a foundation fine art diploma at South Devon college living in Torquay.

Primarily interested in painting and drawing. In 2012/13 I learnt to draw to a high standard by became a tattoo apprentice at a respected local studio Revolver Tattoo Rooms, I soon decided I needed to work with more diversity and freedom rather than keep producing the repetitive technical drawings.

Since returning to college I have began to challenge myself with new materials and media, including working outdoors and introducing my work to a larger audience. This meant I needed to stay somewhat anonymous; I created an alter ego 'Itchier Itch' on the social networking site Facebook which has reached over 500 followers, I was recently contacted on this profile by one of my main influences, a street artist called ‘Mydog sighs’ based in Portsmouth. He invited me to work with a friend of his in Teignmouth called ‘Nme’ who has worked with the likes of Banksy and Tracy Emin in the past. I am going to be collaborating with many artists this year, Nme being just one of them.

I have started something with a lot of energy and I can get direct feedback from my audience and interact with them on a daily basis. Now I want to push things further, either by using new materials or just by challenging my audience. I am expecting to achieve a level 4 distinction this year whilst growing this side project of mine simultaneously to become something stronger and more versatile.

Being in London will enable me to access new areas and materials, meet new people and display work to a bigger and more diverse audience. I want to gain experience in my life.
