When I was 16 my parents gave me a Rollei 35S, as birthday or Christmas present. I began with b&w photography and color negatives, later turned to slides. At 21, I bought my first SLR, a Nikon FM2, which was followed 19 years later by my mom’s Nikon F4 (she had two or three, just in case, for underwater photography…). Unfortunately, I started only reading about photography when I was about to buy my first digital SLR, a Nikon D700. Then I realized I could have taken many photos much better… For a few years, I was then happy with a D750 - until I fell into the Baltic Sea. That was a little bit too much water for the camera, but it was also a chance to switch to a mirrorless camera. My choice was Nikon's Z6-II, because of my Nikon lens collection. However, very soon I noted a growing desire for new Z-mount lenses, because the adapter sometimes is too much trouble.
