I was born and grew up in Wollongong (Australia) in a trucking household, but after leaving school studied then taught Economics at the University of Wollongong before going into Institutional Banking in Sydney. Not happy in Sydney I bought a rucksack and left Australia in 2000 planning to backpack around for 1 - 2 years, ending up based in London and subsequently being sponsored with a Work Visa by an Investment Bank where I worked until 2007 managing a Private Equity portfolio, during which time I hooked up with a Slovakian girl while travelling in Egypt and subsequently settled down with.

Upon earning my UK citizenship I joined a London-based Investment Management business in 2007 where I managed Private Equity portfolios until 2015 (bringing a little girl then a boy into the world in the interim and buying a house in Surrey and American Peterbilt 379 truck). Upon turning 40yo I decided to pack it all in to follow my lifelong dream of driving trucks.

We now live in Surrey where up until recently I operated my own Peterbilt 379 for nine years as a hobby/part time earner while driving lorries on a casual basis for some local firms. I now have my Transport Operator's Licence and am running my own tipper business running my fully restored Foden 8 legger tipper. I still manage family investments and am engaged as a Financial Consultant by a Neurosciences Medical Technology business based in France.
