Carthage Theatre
Drag to set position!
Carthage theatre education enables students to contribute meaningfully to both the world of theatre and the world at-large.
Carthage College Theatre, strategically located between Chicago and Milwaukee, is committed to creating exciting, compelling, innovative new theatre. Since 2008, Carthage Theatre has commissioned playwrights of prominence from around the country and the world to create original plays for our department, and to work closely with our students to bring their plays to life. These works receive their world premieres here at Carthage and commonly continue on after that--traveling to the regional Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, traveling overseas, or finding new life in new productions elsewhere. This unique opportunity means that our students collaborate with playwrights currently active in the highest levels of the theatre world. Visit www.carthage.edu/theatre to learn more about Carthage Theatre and our New Play Initiative.
Carthage theatre students have the opportunity to take courses in acting, theatre history, directing, playwriting, dance, scene design, music theatre, costume design, light design, scenic painting, and more. Carthage Theatre graduates have a reputation for being intelligent creators, well-rounded theatre artists, and excellent collaborators.
Today, Carthage Theatre graduates are making their mark in the world of theatre, with an especially strong presence in nearby Chicago and Milwaukee.
