As a young child, I’ve always loved art. For toys, I would carefully make my own paper dolls, coloring each piece with detail. I loved painting and drawing; however, my High School Art Teacher and my parents discouraged me from that pursuit. After graduation, I wanted to go to art school; however, I needed to go to work. I became a hair stylist for 15 years, where I worked at a high-end saloon in Los Angeles. Soon, I needed a job with benefits for my family, so I became a medical assistant; a job I continue. Overtime, I have slowly continued my schooling, earning two Associate Degrees. Along the way, I took few college level art courses. Since taking the art classes, I have not stopped drawing. I continue self-teaching with online resources and books. In October 2013, I discovered the beauty of color pencil drawings. I started investing time learning that form of art. Soon, I entered Color Pencil Magazine’s challenge. While I still feel I am a beginner, Color Pencil Magazine moved me to the advance group after I won two student contests.
I love drawing anime, fantasy characters, animals and photo realism.
In addition to color pencil; I also love working with oil paints. I think I will work mostly color pencil until my kids are older.
