I lived in Albuquerque all my life other then about a year when I wanted to live anywhere other then here. I ended up back in Albuquerque. Been to all but about 10 states in the US and now think Albuquerque is pretty nice. Alb., has it’s drawbacks but what city doesn't.

Travels; I’ve travel all over, Hawaii, Alaska twice, Europe three times, (Germany twice, England, Portugal, France one day, Belgium one day). I’d go back to England and Germany for sure. I would love to travel to the Scandinavian countries someday.

Over the last 5+ years I’ve been involved with Troop 409 as an ASM. My son Matt, ke5ami, is about to get his eagle rank, at that point I will probably slow down with the scouting activities. It’s been fun but I think there maybe other things I’d like to spend that time doing.

Our Geocaching name is ‘thegoofy4’ we haven’t been that active lately but it’s a fun activity.

Ham Radio, one of the best parts of this hobby is making antennas, seeing if you can get into the repeater system from all the camping places we go. The answer there is no not always, but the better antenna the more likely, dah everyone knows that, maybe with a 4-5 element yagi. QRP is also a fun but hard work. This is fun taking my FT817ND camping and seeing if I can make contacts, although QSO are better. Went on a rim to rim hike of the Grand Canyon and tried transmitting from Phantom Ranch at the bottom and just missed getting a few contacts by my last two letters….KD5Shr... hr…. hr… no copy. They where nets, so they didn’t try that hard. Then another station had me but a higher power station blew me away so I never could confirm it. Didn’t bring the best antenna, I used a Delta Loop but didn’t have tree’s close to our cabin to use it correctly, should have had a simple Dipole….. Oh well that’s ham radio. Maybe the best qrp contact was the 3rd of July when I was in Las Cruses, kids where at the Wrap concert, and I had a QSO with a ham in NW Washington. I was using a 20M ham stick at 5 watts. Surprised me! Then a QSO with a boy scout who was working on his radio merit badge from a scout camp in Michigan.

Photography; got my first SLR for high school graduation, a Canon AE-1. My first Digit was a Canon A520 power shot, 4M pixel.. a long story behind why I bought this camera but it made me really want the SLR I've been thinking about, so I just recently bought the Canon SLR Rebel for the rim to rim hike of the Grand Canyon. I Love taking pictures of the landscape. Placing in the NM State Fair is a goal, but one I’m currently not chasing. I think I have to increase my ability a notch or two for that one.

In the 1990’s I did a lot of traveling for work and since I’m not the type to set around after we got off work I ended up doing things a night, like sight seeing the Mall in DC, visiting Hard Rock Café’s (I think I could count about 20+).
