I'm a semi-retired science teacher living in SoCal who has become addicted to studying and photographing wildlife in action. I also work for the USFS shooting images for their use. (Volunteer ranger).

Photographing wildlife without disturbing or injuring the subjects is of utmost importance to me. Sitting quietly and letting wildlife approach you can be wonderfully rewarding. All of the photos posted here are in wild environments and not captive (in zoos, ranches etc.) unless otherwise noted.

I prefer action images so there are very few of what I call BOASS ( Bird-On-A-Stick-Shots ) on this site.

I worry because as humans mindlessly increase their numbers, the other inhabitants of our planet can only adapt or die as they are pushed into ever smaller territories.

It is sad to note that we, touting ourselves as the most intelligent of all living things, have learned how to control just about every other kind of life... except out own. I fear that future generations may look back upon us with disgust as they jostle for places to exist. Are we doomed to be buried in our own arrogant ignorance?

Many of my images have appeared in journals, newspapers, projects, museums, LAX banners, research, catalogs and books, etc. My focus is capturing behavioral images of wildlife and natural beauty. I very much appreciate suggestions on how I might improve my work but have little interest in joining any "pools" or "groups" etc. as it takes time away from being in the field so please don't be offended if I don't hop into that genre. If anyone sees me "following" someone, get suspicious and call the cops.
