I am a retired research scientist (entomologist). I spent my career with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, studying the biology of predatory and parasitic insects and mites, and developing ways to use these as biological control agents against pests in greenhouse agriculture. As I approached retirement, I had to find something to take the place of the intense academic and scientific activity, and I quite deliberately returned to photography. I received my first camera, a Brownie, at age 10, and have been taking and making pictures ever since. My first SLR was a Canon Tlb. Over the years, I have recorded our family, events and travels, and did do a fair amount of photography of insects and experiments as part of my research. My main photographic interests are in the natural world. I enjoy making images of landscapes, plants, insects, birds, and similar subjects.

My wife and I kayak, canoe and travel fairly extensively, the cameras are always along. My equipment is at present: Nikon D7100, Nikon D80, Sony a6000 and a Panasonic Lumix TS5. The TS5 has just been replaced by an Olympus Tough TG6, and I am really looking forward to learning to use this neat little camera.
