Hello and welcome to my photo stream I sincerely hope you enjoy my offerings! I enjoy photographing our railways having come from a good railway pedigree. My Grandfather worked in the Paint shops at Horwich Locomotive Works during the 50's and 60's while an Uncle worked in the Electrical Shop. Another Uncle also worked there firstly on the scrap line in 1980's, later moving onto wagon repair and finally assisting with the strip down of the works at it's closure. I also have extended family who worked at the Earlestown wagon works and who also later worked at the famous Vulcan foundry.

Class 47, 47491 was named Horwich Enterprise on the 21st June 1985 at Horwich Works by The Right Honourable David Mitchell the under secretary for the state of transport. The name plates were eventually removed at Doncaster Works in November 1992. The loco was later named Resolve at Crewe Diesel TMD without ceremony in March 1993. 47491 was later reclassified as a 47/7 becoming 47769 on the 16th February 1994 but later having that name removed in December 2004. It later had the names refitted in October 2006 and is currently part of the operational fleet of Riviera Trains based at Crewe LNWR (2013).
