Catalina Gardeazabal started developing her own line of women's clothing in 1992 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Fashion Design School in 1996. After graduation Catalina worked as a visual merchandiser for a major Colombian clothing company before opening her own store, Shelter. Shelter was immediately recognized by fashion shows and quickly became one of the most prestigious women's clothing stores in Colombia in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s.

During the success of Shelter Catalina also designed a line which was sold in Miami showrooms and at trade shows in New York and Las Vegas under the name “Soye”. Additionally, she collaborated on Alejandra Jackson’s Los Angeles couture line as a main designer.

A few years later Catalina decided to open a new store under her name in Bogota, Colombia. To no one's surprise c a t a l i n a r d e a z a b a l became an instant success. Now Catalina has teamed up with Maria Carolina Arenas to take the c a t a l i n a r d e a z a b a l brand international.
