I love old photographs and collect them from everywhere such as estate sales, eBay and Facebook marketplace. I prefer photos where people are identified because from that, I will create their family tree on Ancestry.com. I will also post the entire collection of a family’s photos on Flickr and post their individual photos on Find A Grave. I have done several families, which are on Flickr if you want to take a look and I have several more to do. It’s so interesting to learn about a family and all the things they went through from a long time ago.
How did I get started in this? My mom gave me about 800 letters and several photo albums from her side of the family. I found it absolutely fascinating as I went through all the photos and read through all the letters starting from the late 1800s. Her grandparents lived in South Korea for 20 years working as missionaries. They had three children, one of them being her father. Long story short, after I researched and finished going through all of the letters and photos from my mom’s side of the family, I wanted more. At the same time, I was also going through and researching my dad’s side of the family so that kept me busy for awhile.
Just recently, I purchased a box of at least 300+ photos of a St. louis family (for only $12!) at an estate sale.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I own all photos that I post but you are free to download and use however you wish. They are all under the “Public domain dedication” license.
If you are related to any of the people in the photos, I would love to know.
