Born in 1955. Grew up (though some would dispute that) all over North America. (No, I'm not a fugitive.) Just a guy with a camera. Well, a buncha cameras, actually. Actually, one less camera after a messy incident in 2022. Really love photography.
I find it therapeutic, fun, fulfilling, frustrating, and, I think I just described the game of golf. I see each photograph as a poem, each poem as a song. I hope you can enjoy my simple view of the world, as seen through my pictures. Retired after 28 years teaching grades 7/8 at the same school. Many have accused me (and, not without some justification) of having the mental maturity of a 12 year old. It would sure explain an awful lot. Presently teaching again in a newly opened JK-8 school whose principal was once a student teacher in my class. How's that for coming full circle? lol. She was once my student, now my boss. Well, I did it again. Retired presently, again, for the second, and hopefully last time. lol Full time grandpa, which keeps me alive. I do love to play with words, and make new ones from time to time, so, don't be surprised if my English is a tad bit stretchy occasionally. I'm a verbophile's verbophile. Expect to see lots of nautically themed photos for the foreseeable future.
My photostream looks a bit like the way my brain works. Here, there, and everywhere, to quote the Beatles. I start many projects, finish few. You'll find landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, some portraits, some animals. I write "poetry", short stories (Just don't expect me to finish the short story serials lol), and sometimes, I'll even write a verse or two on one of your photos that inspire me. I really do care about the friends I have made on Flickr, though, I may not always show it.
We moved to the East Coast of Canada in June of 2023, and now reside in the village of Quispamsis, near the Kennebacasis River. Loving life near the sea. 20 minutes to the Bay of Fundy, where the world's greatest tidal variances occur.

Jon was one of my first Flickr contacts and has since become my closest and most devoted Flickr Friend. I anticipate his visits and I am always rewarded with insightful, sincere and encouraging comments. I was new to digital photography when we met, and with great patience, Jon has taught me much through his generous sharing of information and his honest approach to his own work. Prefering the natural state of photos, Jon's own are mostly straight from the camera. This says a lot about how he approaches his art, preferring to focus on compositions of his own creation, and camera techniques that are borne of the equipment itself. Always experimenting, Jon's work often surprises me with explosions of light and colour or extreme macro shots that border on the abstract. His photos often focus on the beauty and fragility of nature, demonstrating a sensitive, poet's touch. Jon's collection of nautical and architectural shots reveal his reverence for history, and are always accompanied with fascinating, historical information. I am continually inspired by Jon's work and appreciate his skills as a photographer, but what drew me to his stream in the first place was his rich sense of humour and his innate sense of curiosity. Here was an intellect with whom I could identify and also share some light-hearted fun! No one's comments, or titles on Flickr are wittier, and I appreciate Jon's brand of humour which is balanced artfully with great respect. Take some time to really look at Jon's stream, and to see the world through his creative eyes. You will undoubtedly learn something, as I continue to do. Thank you, Jon, for your loyalty and for all that you've taught me, but mostly for your beautiful friendship.
