Karl Pfeiffer is, put simply, a romantic. A romantic in the artistic sense. He searches for the supernatural in the mundane.

As a photographer, he works to elicit emotion from not only his subjects, but from the landscape around him, merging these by playing with light and darkness to be as evocative as possible. His art, when he was younger, bordered on a similar boundary, between the super-real and the surreal. As a photographer now, he focuses primarily on portraits and headshots, playing as much with his subject's emotional presentation as he does manipulate the lighting and environment.

He's also a writer. Karl has written two books and is at work on three more. He explores those same thin places in his writing as with his photography: where the supernatural breaks into the natural at places of extremes, be that in emotion or circumstance. His first novel, Hallowtide, is about a young man's dreams and a journey into Hell, and his second book, a collection of short work, further explores the boundaries between fiction and non-fiction, as well as the poetic and profane.

And to round it all off, he's a paranormal researcher and investigator. He won the first season of Ghost Hunters Academy, and appeared briefly on Ghost Hunters International, as well as various independent documentaries. He works at the Stanley Hotel in Colorado, leading the weekend public ghost hunts, he writes for the TAPS Paramagazine and Paranormal Pop Culture Blog, he films a semi-regular vlog series about the basics of ghost hunting, and he travels the nation, lecturing and attending events.
