I do not claim to be a good photographer and my photographs here are not helped by the fact that all my negatives were lost during several house moves and the last when I moved to S E Asia. This means that all photos taken with a film camera are scanned from prints. I excuse some poor shots by saying that the subject is being recorded for history and that this is more important than quality and artistic value of the photograph. This having been said I have tried to improve a number of my film photos by using ACDSee although some have been put in a computer file for those too bad for Flickr.

My early photographs were taken with a number of poor cameras from Kodak, Agfa and Olympus. My first SLR (a Chinon CP-7m) was purchased in early 1987. After a couple of Canon SLRs I moved to digital photography in 2007 with a Canon EOS 350D and I am currently using a Canon EOS 650D (which Flickr insists on referring to by its American name of Kiss EOSx6I) . I’m a lazy photographer and despite having a collection of Canon mount lenses have tended mainly to use Tamron zoom lenses with a range from wide angle up to 200mm. When I did not have my bulky SLR with me I previously used the poor camera facility on my now aging Nokia mobile phone but I now use a Canon IXUS 160 which I think is an excellent little camera.

I am a railway enthusiast and initially intended to concentrate on posting my several thousand railway photographs on Flickr. However I also have 1000s of more general shots taken in the UK and here in Thailand where I now live and have made a start on adding some of these to Flickr as I have the photos I inherited from my parents’ collections.

Several people have asked to use my photographs on websites or with articles they are writing and I have so far always said yes and not made any sort of financial request but please ask first. If the photo is to be used sensibly I am most likely to have no problems with you using it.
