I'm 30, and am living in NYC. And right now I can't sleep and I'm therefore all caught up on a bunch of people's photostreams (FINALLY - yay insomnia. Sleeping is for the unproductive!) so I've decided that my profile urgently needs updating!

Somewhere in the last year or so, taking photos became more about self-expression than about holding on to something, creating a false sense of permanence. I love that when I have my camera, I stop sleepwalking through my world in a haze of preoccupied thought and worry and fantasy, and instead am able to just see what's here. The best thing about photography, and art in general, is that it can give you a very brief understanding for what it is to be that person, to see things the way they are seeing things in that moment.

I love making new flickr friends, hearing what they have to say, and catching a glimpse of the way they see this world.

I really, really try to keep up with my contact's photostreams, and to comment when I can, but often fall behind or miss new posts. Apparently because I'm wasting too much time sleeping.
