After retiring from the Fire Service I began volunteering with the Solano Land Trust (SLT). My initial activities were training and participating in the U C Davis' Jepson Prairie Docents group. This also began my SLT "career". My spring days became filled with hikes of the SLT properties and a fledgling career in digital photography.

While my explorations are not confined to nature preserves the majority of my time in the field occurs on the SLT properties.. They include Jepson Prairie, Wilcox Ranch, Rush Ranch, King-Swett, Lynch Canyon and Rockville Trails recently renamed (.Patwino Worrtla Kodoi Dihi) Th/Users/macbookpro21/Desktop/Mom's hike at Jepson .jpge properties run the gamut from vernal pools to tidal marshes to coastal range hills. They also include many rare native species. The total coverage i.s in excess of 11, 000 acres. You can learn more about these properties on the SLT website at www.solanolandtrust.org.

Most of the properties have some scheduled hikes. If you live in the area, or will be travelling to the area, and would like to participate in one of these hikes the information is available on the above website, as well. If there are none scheduled during your visit, contact me through this website, or at aneedtoknow@comcast.net and I'll try and accommodate your requests.

The photos on this website are for the purpose of exposing people to the beauty of these increasingly rare plants and animals and of their vanishing habitats. If you'd like to use any of these for educational or "NON-COMMERCIAL" purposes please contact me to arrange for copies. If you desire a commercial use a different agreement can be discussed.

No matter where you live, get out and see the beauty nature provides. If you have a little bit of spare change make a donation to your local preserves or nature groups.
