I have always been interested in photography. For many years I have been selling artwork in local galleries and using photography just as a reference. Gradually though, and with the introduction of digital, the photography became more important to me than painting.

I live in Weymouth on the South Coast of the UK and work right opposite Weymouth Beach, which presents many opportunites for photography and the light is constantly changing.

A few years ago now, I won a national photography magazine competition and the prize was a Canon 450D. I found it to be so easy to use and was so impressed with the results that I upgraded to a Canon 50D and I love it. too. (The image that won the competition is the one that I am using here as my icon.) I have now taken the plunge and use a Canon 5D mk 11, which is a great peice of kit.

In Autumn, 2011, I was one of the 12 finalists (out of 55,00) in the BBC TV's Countryfile Calendar Competition. This has given me great spur to push on in this fantastic world of photography. This is a wonderful world and there is so much that I'd love to do, and yet, it seems that time here is so short. I try not to waste a moment!

I've done a few weddings and enjoyed the challenge but am pushing a few more doors to see what opens and what doesn't.
