Take a photo a day…every day…for an entire year. And post the results.

It’s nothing new. Photographers have been doing this exercise, also referred to as a “365 Project”, for as long as I can remember. But while many have started and a few have succeeded, I’ve never even attempted it. It’s time that changed and this is the year.

Why do this you ask? Several reasons really…

#1 Removal from Comfort Zone. Posting a photo every day will require composing images I’ve never thought of before. We all know that every day has it’s challenges and there isn’t always time for everything. I will have to make time and if it’s only a small minute of the day, I will have to use that time wisely. Can’t just snap and post. The world will see it. Has to be something worth posting. Goodbye comfort zone.

#2 Practice, Practice, Practice. Makes perfect. ’Nuff said.

#3 Pure Documentation. When it’s over, I’ll have an entire year of recorded memories. Compositional challenges, creative blockages, and assorted struggles will blend in perfectly with the triumphs and eurekas, all documented for easy retrieval and review.

So…a photo a day…every day…for 365 days.

Every challenge needs rules. Mine are self imposed and are as follows:

- The project will run from SEPTEMBER 1, 2013 THROUGH AUGUST 31, 2014 INCLUSIVE

- A photograph must be taken each day. Can’t take 2 today and use one for tomorrow (no borrowing).

- The photograph must be posted within a week of being taken. While every attempt will be made to post daily, it is understood that sometimes that may not be physically possible.

- While every photo will not be a masterpiece, some compositional thought should be put into it.

That’s it! My hope is that i will not only grow as a photographer but can also document some of my challenges and successes. I can use all the encouragement I can get so feel free to comment!

Thanks for stopping by!

Jeff
