Cornish Woodsman based in Gweek.

Using traditional, low impact techniques I manage woodlands & coppices for private landowners and organisations across Cornwall.

The sustainable management of our woodlands has never been as important as it is today and I pride myself on ensuring all my work not only improves the timber and coppice within the wood but also its habitats and wildlife.

Wood cut during this management is worked into a number of coppice crafts - each order built to the clients' specifications using hand tools and traditional green wood techniques.

I specialise in building functional items that not only do their job but also have the beauty of a well crafted article.

I rely on building a good working relationship with every client, ensuring each item is exactly as required. Commissions are more than welcome.

This ethos is equally vital when working with landowners to provide the most appropriate management for the woodland - reciprocal arangements between landowners and myself generally ensure that management costs for private woodland owners are kept to a minimum

I also provide a number of other countryside services such as Hedgelaying, woodland assesment and management planning and forest garden design.

I am supported in my work by various local and national organisations including The Silvanus Trust, The Small Woods Association and The Guild of Cornish Hedgers. I am also a member of the Association of Pole Lathe Turners and Greenwood Workers.

I have worked, trained, and generally been influenced by many Woodsmen in the UK including:

Anthony Waters of Heartwood Creations/Pentiddy Woods, Cornwall,

Larry Jones (The Wreakin Woodsman), Shropshire,

and Kenny Comaine of whereever he lays his hat.

More formal education was undertaken with the Small Woods Association during a traineeship at the Green Wood Centre, Shropshire.
