We are a group of organizations and activists coordinating a response to the upcoming 1,000th US execution since the resumption of the death penalty in 1977.

Our efforts include this website, a photo petition, a letter in opposition to the death penalty to be signed by 1,000 faith based leaders, a letter questioning the death penalty to be signed by 1,000 professors, our blog, and grassroots events to be held throughout the country. These events will include meetings, speakers, protests and vigils.

We hope that our efforts will help to express the growing numbers of Americans who now understand that the death penalty makes mistakes, disproportionately affects the poor and people of color, doesn't deter crime, and is expensive, arbitrary, and immoral.
