Thanks for visiting my photostream. Constructive criticism, comments and feedback always very welcome!

For me, the desire to be behind the camera has a lot to do with not wanting to be in front of it...

I've made many great friends and contacts on Flickr, and am inspired on a daily basis with the creativity and engagement people bring to their images. Please don't be offended if you add me as a contact and I don't add you back right away. I like to be actively involved with contacts' photos and don't have much time to be on here at the moment.

Prints and things are over on Etsy, I'm on Twitter here, and my (very neglected!) blog is here. I'm also on Redbubble.

Oh, and I wrote this book about photography, too.

Sophie's stream is a double treat for me. Not only that her photos are wonderful but she also accompanies them with her own special kind of wit in her captions. Giggles and laughs are a common side effect when visiting, so be warned of that "danger" before you go in. I can list thousands of technicalities that make her pictures stunningly great but one reason that is the most important to me is that looking at them makes me feel relaxed and happy. And although she says (and I quote): "the desire to be behind the camera has a lot to do with not wanting to be in front of it..." we are all so very eager to witness the day when she uploads a full self-portrait on her stream. Hear hear!!!!

If I looked up simplicity in the dictionary, I think one of Sophie's photos would be shown as an illustration. She has taken flowers, fruits and veggies to a whole new level through her lens. Give her a bok choy and she would likely surprise you with her use of light and minimalistic sense. Her dedication to photograph… Read more

Sophie is, without a doubt, the most talented minimalist/negative space photographer on flickr. I discovered her stream a while back and I've been hopelessly addicted to her photos ever since. Whether she's producing the most amazing flower shots I've ever seen, or she's using her scanner to create intensely emotive hand shots, you will never be bored looking at her work. She's inspired me to do more minimalst shots, and when I turn out anything halfway decent, I wonder whether Sophie will like it. :)

I have to be honest that I have stolen more ideas from Sophie than any other person here on Flickr. I have to be honest that I have stolen more ideas from Sophie than any other person here on Flickr. She is just absolutely amazing with her great contrasts, negative spaces, stunning colors, and still life photography. And, she has one heck of a dryer! With every shot she posts I find myself going, "Wow, why didn't I think of that?" Sophie is a great photographer. More so, she is a great Flickr friend and it is my privilege to engage in fun, banter, and frequent mischief with her in this playground. Thank you Sophie!

SophieG*'s work is, in a word, fantastic. Her eye for composition is incredible. She takes everyday objects and turns them into works of art. She is able to use light in new and original ways and everytime I go through her photostream, I simply marvel at her ability to bend light. It's simply amazing watching each photograph and attempting to deconstruct how she captures her subjects. I've learned an amazing amount just looking at how she "sees" her world and it has helped in my own work as I begin to really see the world in a new and different way. So.... Thank you, Sophie! Seriously, this testimonial can't thank you enough for showing me the world through your eyes.

Sophie is one of my favourite photographers on flickr. Always managing to capture the light perfectly, she inspires me daily with her beautiful window and amazing eye for a wonderful photograph.

not to long ago I remember Sophie wrote of her 365 project, that she was on the verge of stopping. Fortunately for us all she has not, I find her work both inspiring and refreshing. She has a great eye of capturing the subtleties of light and color in the most brilliant of ways.
